Electric Education
Electricity…
- Always seeks the easiest path to the ground.
- It looks for conductors like metal, wet wood,
water or people (who are 70% water and electrolytes).
Electric shock
- The amount of electricity used by one Christmas
tree bulb is lethal if it passes through
your chest.
- A 12-watt electric shaver in water can easily
cause a lethal shock.
Ground fault circuit interrupters
- Break current between the level of felt shock
and immobilizing shock at 5 milli-amps.
- They are a smart investment where water
& electricity keep close company.
Appliances cause many fires!
- Did you know that may household fires are
started at night by faulty toaster or appliance wires?
- These fires could be prevented if appliances
were simply unplugged! Unplug appliances!
About lightening
- Stay away from open water during storms.
- Isolated trees are natural lightning rods.
Find other shelter!
- Don’t let yourself be the tallest object
on the landscape.
- Be away from metallic objects (like golf clubs
or fences)
- Better to crouch in a field than to lie flat
on the ground.
